Creating & Building a Town

So you wish to create your own Town? There are some things you need to know and keep into account while doing this - but if you do this right you can create a thriving community! First, it's important to collect $25,000 as this is the price it costs to create a town.

Creating a Town

After collecting $25,000 you can create a town using the following command:

/t new [town name]

  • [town name] being the name you want your town to have.

Please note that you use the /t new command at the place you want to start your town at. Also, make sure you're not too close to any other current claims by looking at the Towny Map.

If you'd like to set a tag for people to see when you chat use:

/t set tag [tag]

  • [tag] being the tag you want your town to have.

Keeping Your Town Alive

Keeping your town alive is the most important thing of running a town. Towns pay upkeep that can be found by using:

/t

The cost of the upkeep is directly related to the amount of members a town has. A town with one member has an upkeep of $525 per day.

To keep your town alive and to be able to pay the upkeep it's important to have money in your town bank. You can deposit money into your town bank using:

/t deposit [amount]

  • [amount] being the amount of money you want to deposit.

If you wish to withdraw money from the town bank you can do that using:

/t withdraw [amount]

  • [amount] being the amount of money you want to withdraw.

Inviting People or Creating an Open Town

If you want to invite someone to your town use:

/t invite [name]

  • [name] being the username of the person you want to invite.

You can also choose to have an open town. An open town means people can join without needing an invite. To do this use:

/t toggle public

Town Claims

Every town has a certain amount of claims they can have. You can check this using the following command:

/t

The amount of town claims can be increased in a number of ways:

  • Getting more residents

  • Joining a Nation

  • Buying bonus blocks using:

/t buy bonus [amount]

  • [amount] being the number of bonus chunks you want to buy.

To claim land we advise to use F3 + G to see chunk boundaries.

You can claim land using:

/t claim

And you can unclaim land using:

/t unclaim

Note: All new claims need to be attached to another claim.

Outposts

Outposts are claims that can be far away from the actual town. An outpost costs $200.000 to claim and there's a limit to the amount you can claim. This limit is determined by the level of your town, the maximum is 5 outposts.

You can claim an outpost using:

/t claim outpost

And you can teleport to an outpost using:

/t outpost [number]

  • [number] being the number of the outpost.
